Colchester Lions Walk Lambert and Smith
Sa3 are a company inspiring to create new atmosphere and exceed our client expectations and we will delivery energy efficient lighting schemes which will compliment not only the iconic structure but harmonise with the current lighting schemes with the area. The world's most famous buildings can be a great source of inspiration for designers and artists. Whether it's the structural shapes, unique design concept or decorative details, buildings can provide ample inspiration for design projects of all kinds. Tourists travel the globe to seek out unique or historical architecture, and often visiting a famous building is one of the most memorable parts of a trip abroad. A country's most famous buildings can tell us a lot about its way of life and the culture during the period when it was built; a bit like looking at a historical photograph. But unlike a photo, buildings continue to change after construction is finished. The usual wear and tear demand renovation and the changing tastes of society have their own impact on the design and functionality of a building. We have recently completed out lighting for Lions Walk shopping Centre where we had to adhere our client specification and highlight the tower and marking on the ground. This job took Sa3 three weeks to complete and was ahead of our client schedule, with 0 health and safety issues. The aim of illuminating a building is to recall the entirety of what you are looking at as if it is in daylight. Of course, a great benefit of using flexible lighting is that you can change the entire feel of a building by using a slightly different angle of light, or a different colour wash. You can enhance and expose details of a building by plays of light and shadow. But when it comes to historical buildings, what guidelines and products do you need to be aware of?
A lot of historic buildings and monuments can be enhanced with striking external lighting, which truly add to the character of the
space. However, it’s important to realise that this can at times highlight flaws and views of the structure that may need to remain hidden. Historic England has a great document on the external lighting of historic buildings and the considerations to bear in mind when developing lighting schemes. Our highly efficient and flexible light-emitting diode (LED) fittings are the most suitable for architectural lighting design. LEDs come in a variety of colours, from RGBW, which offers an almost unlimited mix of colours, to the simplicity of Pure White, all with a variety of beam
angles. The colours and lighting can be controlled by a DMX device, meaning your lighting designs will be very easy to install, control and change as requirements develop over time. For very large structures, the Herkul Pr-
O07 comes out on top. The device can be angled between -5º and 95º, and is perfect for use outdoors. The 188 high power LEDs are densely populated, providing an extremely bright and even light output. ‘Because it looks good’ is not always enough of a reason to pop some lighting on a structure. Think of the bigger picture and how it won’t just improve the observation of the building. The EMIN iRIS 100w will improve safety at night if the area is well lit.
Sa3 buy all their product from European Companies who we closely work alongside to try and create the best possible lighting schemes for each individual jobs. We have designed a new LED corrosive fitting with double ended
connection to ensure efficient while completing a retro fit of corrosive proof fitting in a carpark for example.
